The San Diego ASLA Stewardship Committee hosted an educational Workshop to Discuss Low-impact Development Solutions on April 30, 2015 at Silver Gate Yacht Club on Shelter Island. This Storm Water Management and Creative Low Impact Development workshop, was a follow-up event to the storm water management programs from previous years. Multi-disciplinary professionals, including city agencies, landscape architects, civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, landscape contractors, and students, attended and engaged with industry experts, who presented their recent local experience with BMPs that have worked and what hasn’t worked.

The Presenters were:
Stephanie Gaines, Program Coordinator, County of San Diego Watershed Protection Program, “Stormwater Regulations.”
Jim Kuhlken, Principal Landscape Architect, Rick Engineering, “Bioretention Design BMP.”

Three LID and Bioretention Case Studies were presented by:
Merrill Taylor, Water Resource Engineer, Tetra Tech;
Martin Poirier, Principal, & Yu-Ju Liu, RLA, Associate Principal, Spurlock Poirier;
Mike Sullivan, Principal, Site Design Studio, Inc.
