The Climate Action Committee (CAC) of the ASLA San Diego Chapter expands upon the national committee’s objective of highlighting the role of landscape architects in addressing climate change at the local and regional levels. The CAC aims to delve deeper into exploring, creating, and advocating for programs, products, and services that are suitable for the region. These initiatives will be informed by the latest research data to offer guidance on climate change mitigation strategies to professionals and policymakers.

Our Goals

  • Establish an interdisciplinary committee to improve the scope and scale of climate change mitigation efforts.

  • Develop actionable pathways for individuals and communities to advocate and protect San Diego’s environmentally sensitive landscapes.

  • Encourage students, emerging professionals and ASLA San Diego members to promote CAC mission to the public, clients, and policy makers.

  • Celebrate and seek to advance public policy that advances climate change mitigation and adaptation.

MITIGATING DROUGHT IMPACTS

  • Protecting trees during extended droughts and in the face of water use restrictions.
