The beauty in nature is in its imperfection.

In a world chasing perfection, we design differently.

Guided by our Principal David McCullough’s perspective, and the philosophy of wabi-sabi, we embrace the natural aging of materials, the growth of landscapes, and the evolution of space over time.

Imperfect. Impermanent. Real.
Grit. Soul. Style.

That’s where the meaning lives. 🌿

Ideas in motion.

Big ideas start with simple moves — sketches, plans, and conversations that evolve over time.

From visioning to built environments, each step plays a role in shaping the final experience.

Housing is more than buildings.

It’s outdoor space that supports connection, wellbeing, and daily life. 🌿

Designing for the everyday.

From urban streetscapes to amenity terraces, each space is shaped to support movement, connection, and pause.

Thoughtful materials and layered planting create places that feel intuitive, adaptable, and lived in.

The East Fortuna Field Station at Mission Trails Regional Park was thoughtfully designed by the Spurlock Landscape Architect team to support park operations while enhancing the visitor experience within one of San Diego’s most treasured open spaces. Accessible by hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians, the facility includes ranger offices, public amenities, picnic areas, native planting, bioswales, and materials that reflect the surrounding landscape. The project received the ASLA San Diego Chapter President’s Award in 2022.
