The San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) announces its first annual landscape architecture art showcase, opening on May 13 at OBR Architecture, 3817 Ray St. San Diego, CA 92104, and on display through June 2.

The gallery doubles as an active workspace and visitors are welcome to see the show while architects work alongside the art. Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:30AM to 6PM. Fridays 8:30AM to 1PM.

At its core, landscape architecture is an artistic and creative process that produces site-specific solutions to real-world design issues.

The technical aspect of the profession can mask the landscape architect’s creative nature and give the public a one-dimensional idea of who landscape architects are.

ASLA San Diego is partnering with OBR Architecture in an attempt to shed light on this misconception and highlight the artistic and creative endeavors of local landscape architects.

The professional of landscape architecture consists of curious, critical-thinking, idea-driven placemakers, and members of the local ASLA chapter believe it’s their responsibility to honor their creative side.
One piece from the show will be donated to non-profit OBR Education, for a charity auction in November.
