Join ASLA\, Saturday\, May 13 during the Ray at Night Festival for our first art show hosted by OBR Architecture. \nASLA San Diego is accepting submissions from all landscape design professionals\, regardless of membership status. Submission criteria are listed below. \nSubmission Rules \n\nAll art submissions must include a photo of the art work\, title\, brief description\, overall dimensions and medium.\nOne piece from the show will be donated to OBR Education\, a Non-profit\, for a charity auction in November 2017. Please indicate your willingness to donate your art piece to this wonderful charity. Please note willingness to participate in this charity is not a requirement for submission.\nAll two-dimensional work must be in display condition and ready for hanging. Please include any special display instructions with the submission.\nPlan graphics\, details\, and sections of any current or past projects will not be considered.\nThree-dimensional work will be considered\, however the artist must provide a pedestal for the work to be displayed on.\nOnly original work may be submitted. Reproductions of works originally created in media other than digital formats or photography will not be considered.\nSubmissions must be received for consideration before noon on April 27th. DESCRIPTION:ASLA Spring Lecture – Thursday\, May 11\, 6:30 pm\nCasa del Prado\, Botanical Society Building\, Room 101\n\nMembers+Sponsors – Free with Registration at this LINK\nNon-ASLA Members+Public – $15 (plus processing fee) at this LINK\nAt Door Registration (All Attendees) – $15 cash at door\n \nThe design team of public artists TJ Dixon & James Nelson and landscape architect Barry Anderson\, ASLA will be speaking about the powerful potential of intensive collaborative design work for large public spaces. \nTJ and James are San Diego-based sculptors who frequently collaborate with landscape architects and architects on large scale installations in the landscape. Their portfolio spans a range of public and private sites and includes children’s gardens\, healing gardens\, fountains\, memorials\, portraits\, donor recognition\, public plazas\, and buildings. \nTheir award-winning body of work distinguishes numerous sites through thoughtful implementation of emotive sculpture and environmental design. For twenty years they have collaborated on many projects at Clemson University with lead designer Barry Anderson\, ASLA\, of Clemson University Planning + Design. \nTheir presentation will center on their close collaboration in the different stages of development of The Scroll of Honor Memorial Park\, a memorial to Clemson University alumni who have given their lives in service to their country over the last 125 years. \nThe lecture will take place on May 11\, 2017 in Room 101 at the Casa Del Prado in Balboa Park beginning with a networking reception (with light refreshments) at 6:30 pm followed by the lecture.

Assumes Presidency in cases of illness or resignation. Coordinates all chapter fundraising (annual sponsorships and golf tournament). Attends ASLA Mid-Year Legislative and National Conference Chapter Presidents Council meetings. Support Emerging Professionals & Students. Serves as President and Past President the following 2 years. Coordinates Executive Committee candidate nomination. Notifies candidates of their election each Aug/Sept. Maintains Constitution\, Bylaws\, Board Roster and ED contract. SUMMARY:ASLA Community Grant Application - Due August 18
DESCRIPTION:Help spread the word to your favorite community nonprofit who could benefit from the ASLA annual Community Grant.  The grant application is mailed to over 300 nonprofits in the county and the application and support letters are due on August 18.  Copies of the editable grant application can be requested at ASLASD@sbcglobal.net \nASLA San Diego Community Grant Purpose\nIn order for the profession of landscape architecture to make its full contribution to the San Diego Community\, the accessibility and understanding of the profession must be made available to all community members.  The Chapter’s grant is intended to educate and enhance the community on landscape architecture and/or environmental issues. \n$5\,000 Reimbursable Grant Award \nCommunity groups are invited to apply for the Grant to make landscape improvements to their neighborhoods. The grant period begins December 1 in the application year. Funds are distributed quarterly to reimburse community groups for expenses and help them conclude their grant work by December 1 of the following year. The final reimbursement is made after the recipient sends an overview and photos of the project showing the work completed. \nThe following are examples of what the Grant could be used for: \n* Landscape Amenities: Cost to purchase & install benches\, plant materials\, paving\, shade structures\, irrigation\, signs\, etc. \n* Landscape Construction: The cost to construct landscape improvements. \n* Landscape Maintenance: The cost to provide maintenance of existing landscape improvements (will be ranked lower unless significant changes are proposed) \nContact VP of Community Outreach\, Jennifer Webster at jenwebster@precisionlandscapeinc.com for more informaiton.
