DESCRIPTION:$5\,000 Reimbursable Grant Award – Application Submittal Deadline – August 12\nKnow of a community group that is ready to start a new landscape project in their neighborhood by the end of 2016?  If so\, please forward a copy of the grant application from this LINK to encourage them to apply for our 2017 grant funds. \nCommunity groups are invited to apply for the Grant to make landscape improvements to their neighborhoods. The grant period begins December 1 in the application year. Funds are distributed quarterly to reimburse community groups for expenses and help them conclude their grant work by December 1 of the following year. The final reimbursement is made after the recipient sends an overview and photos of the project showing the work completed. \nThe following are examples of what the Grant could be used for: \n\nLandscape Amenities: Cost to purchase & install benches\, plant materials\, paving\, shade structures\, irrigation\, signs\,\nLandscape Construction: The cost to construct landscape\nLandscape Maintenance: The cost to provide maintenance of existing landscape improvements (will be ranked lower unless significant changes are proposed)\n\nEligibility\nAll non-profit community groups recognized by the IRS located in the County of San Diego that have been in existence as a non-profit group for at least three (3) years are eligible to receive the Community Grant. \nFor more information\, contact Jennifer Webster at 530.737.3207 jenwebster@precisionlandscapeinc.com.

DESCRIPTION:PARK(ing) Day is about two weeks away on Friday\, September 16th and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA)NEEDS YOUR HELP to spread the word and participate. \n \nThe San Diego chapter would like to encourage all members to participate in this special day. This is a great opportunity to express the importance of parks in our urban and public realm and MAKE A STATEMENT AROUND THE WORLD. If you are interested in Park(ing) Day and want to set up a parklet it’s as simple as 1\, 2\, 3. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1. Set one up! Just setting up a simple parking space on Friday\, September 16th with a few plants and chairs can make a big statement in your neighborhood (see photo below). If you are concerned about the legal ramifications of this space\, just pay the meter! The City of San Diego and surrounding Cities in the county are in general support of this event and will not hassle you if you are in a legal parking spot. If you have further questions/concerns reach out to your local politician(s)/city code enforcement staff and gain their support\, most of them are all for this amazing day.  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2. Announce it. Use the hashtag #ASLAPD16 on Facebook\, Twitter or Instagram to share your PARK(ing) Day parklet or see more parklets from around the world at www.asla.org. ASLA national staff will pick a favorite professional and student PARK(ing) Day parklet with the hashtag #ASLAPD16 and feature them in a congratulatory advertisement in Landscape Architecture Magazine!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n3. Enjoy the day!  Enjoy this wonderful day in your parklet and tell people about the importance of parks. DESCRIPTION:Register today for SDASLA’s annual golf tournament\, scheduled for Monday\, August 19 with proceeds benefiting the Chapter Community Grant program. We’re returning to the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club (1505 Lomas Santa Fe Drive\, Solana Beach\, CA 92075) for another day of fun and fellowship. \nThe tournament will kickoff earlier this year at 11 am with lunch pick up at the club house turn. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will return again this year as driving range fat head targets. Happy hour and awards will start at 4:30 pm with the usual raffle golf gear and miscellaneous crazy give aways (can you say Vuvuzela?). \nPlayers registrations can be paid by check by completing and sending the Player Registration Form at this LINK. \nSponsors have the opportunity to staff a tee box (with or without alcohol) and provide libations or product samples on 18 tees. Other sponsorships available are happy hour host\, turn host\, putting contest\, closest to pin and longest drive..
