We will contact you to discuss your interest in serving on SDASLA’s 2017-2018 Executive Committee. \nThe following positions are open for nomination this year: \n\nPresident Elect (Full/Fellow/3 year term): Assists President and presides in President’s absence. Assumes Presidency in cases of illness or resignation. Coordinates all chapter fundraising (annual sponsorships and golf tournament). Attends ASLA Mid-Year Legislative and National Conference Chapter Presidents Council meetings. Support Emerging Professionals & Students. Serves as President and Past President the following 2 years. Attends/reports at monthly Executive Committee.\nTreasurer (Full/Fellow/2 year term): Custodian of chapter funds\, prepares monthly/quarterly financial reports on monthly income & expenses and present reports at monthly Executive Committee meetings. Prepares budget each October/November with President and President Elect. Prepares end of the year Treasurer’s report for tax filing. Attends/reports at monthly Executive Committee.\nCalifornia Council of ASLA Board Rep (Full/Fellow/2 year term): Represents San Diego Chapter to provide feedback and direction on state laws\, regulations and policies impacting landscape architects in California. Works with other three CA ASLA Chapters to defend state licensure and the industry with state policy makers and regulators. Attends/reports at monthly Executive Committee.\nSecretary (Full/Fellow/Associate/1 year term): Gather monthly Executive Committee agenda items & take/transcribe minutes at meetings and distributes to Board. Coordinates Executive Committee candidate nomination. Notifies candidates of their election each Aug/Sept. Maintains Constitution\, Bylaws\, Board Roster and ED contract. Attends/reports at monthly Executive Committee.\nVP Membership (Full/Fellow/2 year term): Coordinates membership recruitment/retention efforts and provides Exec Com Membership Roster updates. Collects articles and submits list of chapter events to newsletter/ website manager\, monthly website review/update. SUMMARY:ASLA Community Grant Application - Due August 18
DESCRIPTION:Help spread the word to your favorite community nonprofit who could benefit from the ASLA annual Community Grant.  The grant application is mailed to over 300 nonprofits in the county and the application and support letters are due on August 18.  Copies of the editable grant application can be requested at ASLASD@sbcglobal.net \nASLA San Diego Community Grant Purpose\nIn order for the profession of landscape architecture to make its full contribution to the San Diego Community\, the accessibility and understanding of the profession must be made available to all community members.  The Chapter’s grant is intended to educate and enhance the community on landscape architecture and/or environmental issues. \n$5\,000 Reimbursable Grant Award \nCommunity groups are invited to apply for the Grant to make landscape improvements to their neighborhoods. The grant period begins December 1 in the application year. Funds are distributed quarterly to reimburse community groups for expenses and help them conclude their grant work by December 1 of the following year. The final reimbursement is made after the recipient sends an overview and photos of the project showing the work completed. \nThe following are examples of what the Grant could be used for: \n* Landscape Amenities: Cost to purchase & install benches\, plant materials\, paving\, shade structures\, irrigation\, signs\, etc. \n* Landscape Construction: The cost to construct landscape improvements. \n* Landscape Maintenance: The cost to provide maintenance of existing landscape improvements (will be ranked lower unless significant changes are proposed) \nContact VP of Community Outreach\, Jennifer Webster at jenwebster@precisionlandscapeinc.com for more informaiton.

Two case studies -14th Street Promenade in San Diego and Mission Blvd in Oceanside – will be examined to reveal potential challenges and lessons learned of implementing green streets. The goal of the luncheon will be achieved through a series of four speakers and a Q&A segment. \nSpeakers will include Mike Singleton (KTUA)\, Bob Leiter\, Kathy Garcia (City of Del Mar)\, Rick Barrett (M.I.G.) and Phil Armstrong (Lightfoot Planning Group). \nAfter the four speakers have concluded\, a question and answer session will be provided to give the speakers time to interact with each other and the audience.
