When Glen Schmidt became a Clairemont resident almost 40 years ago – and a Bay Park fixture for almost 32 of those years – he brought his commitment to community with him.

While the award-winning landscape architect and wife Margie raised now-adult daughters Christi and Gina, Schmidt served as Parent-Teacher Association president of Longfellow Elementary School and vice president of the Clairemont Town Council and for 10 years coached the Longfellow girls soccer and softball teams.

Schmidt lends his expertise as a civic projects volunteer. He sits on three Clairemont Planning Group subcommittees and serves on the board of directors of the San Diego chapter of Coastkeeper, a marine environment oversight group. He has held more than 20 professional appointments and technical advisory panel positions, including vice chair of the Public Utilities Advisory Commission for the City of San Diego.
